VMU Centre for Asian Studies invites to the International Symposium ”Representation of Japan in Western Medias. Comparison with the Korean Case”, which will be held in Kaunas on November 4-5, 2010, at the VMU “Gallery 101” (Laisvės av. 53, Kaunas). It is the fourth international symposium, organised by the Centre since 2007.
Students and scholars are invited to discuss the current problems and achievements in cross-cultural communication among the Japanese, Korean people and Westerners. How the images of East Asian countries are projected? How are they represented in Western literature, cinema, art, printed media? There will be three sessions at the Symposium, and three key speakers will deliver the lectures: prof. dr. T. Suzuki (Meiji University), prof. dr. S. Li (Pusan National University) and assoc. prof. dr. Y. Ikeda (Ritsumeikan University)
