On December 6th Japanese business and education representatives visited VMU and during the meeting with University’s representatives discussed possible cooperation. Among the guests there were “Fukuyama Transporting Co.” President and C.E.O. Shigehiro Komaru, Executive and Vice President of Hiroshima University Toshiyuki Sato, Shibuya Ikueikai Foundation managing director Hidemitsu Murata and representative from the Embassy of Japan in Lithuania.  

Guests were welcomed by the VMU Vice-Rector for International Relations Prof. Ineta Dabašinskienė, deans of the faculties and the Chief Coordinator of VMU Centre for Asian Studies Dr. Linas Didvalis. During the visit already existing and possible areas of cooperation and joint activities were discussed. In not so distant future there are plans to expand student exchanges, involve Japanese students into summer schools organized by VMU, to engage in bilateral scientific cooperation, to promote applied research, which would contribute to the growth of Lithuanian and Japanese businesses and strengthen connections between the two.

Hiroshima University is one of the nineteen VMU partner Universities in Japan. Through joint effort Hiroshima University Lithuania Centre has been established at VMU, which is coordinated by the ASC.
