On the 29th of April in Centre of Oriental studies in Vilnius University, Centre for Asian Studies (CAS) and Confucius Institute at Vilnius University CI VU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding. By doing so, a formal cooperation between the two institutions was initiated. The Memorandum enabled the establishment of Confucius Institute Teaching Point at VMU. The teaching Point will mainly be aimed at Chinese language teaching for VMU students.
The Memorandum was signed between Dr. Aurelijus Zykas on behalf of CAS, by Prof. Zhang Donghui, and Prof. Audrius Beinorius, two directors of CI VU. “This Memorandum is a new and big step forward in the course of cooperation in the field of Chinese studies.” – said A. Zykas. “Confucius Institute has many resources which make the teaching and learning Chinese much easier. As the numbers of Chinese language learners in VMU are increasing, Vytautas Magnus University is in need of such specialists”.
This is the second year since the cooperation between the two institutions was started. At the moment, there are two Chinese teachers at VMU provided by CI. According to different calculations, at least 3 full-time Chinese teachers will be needed by the next year.
